Picture this. It’s early March 2020, and you are busy planning out all the super fun things you’re going to do for the rest of the year.
Your birthday night out, city break to Venice, spa day with your mum, rugby match at Twickenham, camping trip to The Lakes…you name it, your diary was full of it!
But who could’ve imagined that every single thing you’d looked forward to would have to be cancelled, and you’d spend months at home baking banana bread, doing Zoom calls and walking EVERYWHERE?
There’s so much that we’ve missed out on thanks to the pandemic, but with restrictions set to lift over the coming months, thoughts are turning to what life is going to be like post Covid. We’ve got a lot of catching up to do!
So, what are you most looking forward to doing when lockdown lifts and life finally starts to get back to normal? Here are 12 things we simply can’t wait for!
Meeting up with friends/family
The first thing on our list has to be meeting up with friends and family. Going over to your Mum’s for a cuppa or meeting your best friends at the pub used to be such common place, but now a quick hello through the window or a brief walk at a 2 metre distance is about as much as we can muster.
We’ve all spent too long apart from the ones we love, so the reunions are going to be absolutely epic. And imagine actually hugging people? How strange yet wonderful is that going to feel!
With weddings cancelled and Zoom birthdays the norm these days, it’s hard to remember a time when you could spend the day celebrating your nearest and dearest in the form of an epic party.
But soon, we’ll be dancing the night away, singing happy birthday at the top of our lungs, and clinking champagne glasses without a care in the world, and we are so ready for it!
Whilst we all miss the big things, it’s the little things that we’re really looking forward to getting back to.
From heading to the beach and Saturday afternoon cinema dates, to long drives for a hike in the mountains and lazy afternoons on the river, it’s the simple pleasures that really enrich our lives. And wow, has it been hard having those taken away.
But fear not, in a short few months, days out will be top of your agenda once more, and you’ll be wondering how on earth you’re going to fit everything in!
Can anyone remember what it’s like to stumble in at 3am? No, us either! Even if partying the night away isn’t your thing, we’ve all missed getting dolled up on a Saturday night and heading out with our pals to let our hair down.
Whether you’re missing heading to your fave Michelin star restaurant for a romantic date night or can’t wait to take advantage of 2 for 1 cocktails with your best mates, post Covid nights out are going to be wild, and we’re here for it!
It’s probably a very long time since you hopped on a plane to head to an exotic, far-flung destination. Even staycations have been few and far between this year! But hopefully, that’s all about to change.
Once restrictions fully lift and things are safe again, you can bet your bottom dollar we’re heading straight for the airport and ticking off every destination on our travel bucket list one by one.
We’re never going to take feeling the sand between our toes for granted ever again, that’s for sure!
Online shopping is the done thing these days, regardless of Covid. But who misses a little mooch around the high street on a Saturday morning?
There will be no more panicking about last minute birthday presents, running out of your favourite hair product or stressing over not having the right fancy dress for that hastily arranged themed Zoom quiz. A quick trip to the shops, and you’re laughing!
Hands up whose hair is in desperate need of a cut? This lockdown look just isn’t working for us anymore! Whether your lid needs some love, your nails are chipped, or your skin is crying out for attention, personal grooming businesses sure are going to be seeing a lot of trade in 2021!
And we don’t just want to look our best, we want to feel our best too! Which is why when things like spas open again, we’re heading straight for a spa day jam packed full of relaxing treatments and lazing by the pool (maybe make that a spa week – it’s needed!)
It’s been so long since we’ve heard the roar of a crowd at a sporting match that we can barely remember what it sounds like! So we’re certainly looking forward to live sport returning really soon.
Whether you’ve missed your Six Nations fix, yearly trip to Badminton or simply pine for Sunday league football down on the village playing fields, heading to sporting fixtures of a weekend and enjoying few pints with your mates over a big win will soon be a reality!
From small gigs to huge festivals and all the incredible concerts in between, boy have we missed live music!
Rocking out to up and coming artists or screaming the words to your idol’s biggest hits, heading to a gig is a feeling like no other.
Sadly, the music scene has taken a big hit during the pandemic, so our support is needed more than ever. You don’t have to tell us twice, though. You’ll find us singing along to our favourite bands before they can say ‘HELLO WEMBLEY!’
Thanks to our new WFH life, gossiping by the water cooler with your colleagues about the latest office scandal is currently a thing of the past.
We can’t deny it, working from home has been fun. There’s no commuting for starters, and you can wear your PJs all day. Winning!
But once restrictions lift, we can’t wait to get back to the office to have a laugh with our co-workers and see actual faces instead of virtual ones!
Marathons, mud runs, bake offs, mountain treks – all have been off the cards in 2020. This has meant many charitable organisations have struggled with lack of incoming funds.
But now that it looks like life will be getting back to some form of normality over the next couple of months, we can start supporting the charities that are close to our hearts again. Warm and fuzzy feelings, incoming!
Right here at Teddy Edward, we are looking forward to being able to visit and have meetings with all our lovely manufacturers and suppliers. And being able to say ’Thank you' for being able to supply to us through all the difficulties of the last year.
Who knew there was so much we had been missing out on thanks to theCovid pandemic! What’s the first thing you’re going to do when the country finally opens up again? Let us know in the comments!
