Make moves in moleskin!

Make moves in moleskin!

Disillusioned with denim? Make moves in moleskin instead! Denim has undoubtedly been king of the jean world for years on end, but we are here to tell you that there’s a new kid in town. Moleskin. Err, hang on a minute. Jeans made from the skin of moles? NO THANKS! No, no. Not mole’s skin. Moleskin! Made from densely woven cotton, moleskin is sheared to give it a soft, textured surface. And yep, you guessed it. The fabric’s unusual moniker is thanks to its striking similarity to the look and feel of a common mole’s fur. At Teddy Edward,...

How our luxury Brocklesby socks are made

How our luxury Brocklesby socks are made

Teddy Edward is based on the Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire border, the ancestral heartland of British textile manufacturing. We work very closely with one of the oldest sock manufacturers in Great Britain, also one of the very few that are left. They operate in a small village, tucked away behind some houses producing over eight thousand pairs of quality socks each week. They remain very traditional in their techniques, which they crafted over many years in a family business producing mainly cotton, wool and alpaca socks. They use old and new machinery to make traditional double cylinder socks, then their highly skilled craftspeople hand-link...

What makes a pair of luxury Teddy Edward socks so special?

What makes a pair of luxury Teddy Edward socks so special?  At Teddy Edward, we are immensely proud of our devotion to British craftsmanship. Our Brocklesby, Cheshire and Dartmoor luxury Alpaca blend socks have exceptional craftsmanship in their hand-linked toe seams. After the sock is initially knitted into a tube, the sock is then handed to the skills of the craftsmen (in this case ladies), who with care and attention sew the toe seams, using the impressive machines as pictured below.   The first step in creating a hand-linked toe seam is to carefully place the sock on the wheel...
